Designing a robot drawing posterToday I will try to create a poster of some fictional corporation engaged in the manufacture of advanced robots.
Step 1Create a new file with the sizes 1800×1200
Step 2Add a photo of a little girl, as a basis for future illustration.
Now, to create animated robots we will not use any advanced techniques. All we need is a selection tool and the "Stained Glass" filter. So, let's start. Foreground and background colors we will leave the default. Select the girls cheek.
Now copy the selection to a new layer. Apply the "Stained Glass" filter for new layer with the following parameters.
Step 3Now select another area of the child's face.
Again, copy the selection to a new layer and apply the "Stained Glass" filter with "Cell Size" = 42. Now, since these sites were created on different layers, there are no black borders between them.
Step 4Set the next shown parameters for new layers to fix this.
That's better
This style will now be applied for each new layer. Step 5The cell size should be chosen based on the relief surface. For example, for the cheeks and forehead the sizes of the cells will be more than for the nose, and brow size will be even smaller than the nose one. During the filter settings in the Settings window move the "Size" slider to generate a new pattern, choose the most suitable pattern for each part of the robot. For clarity, I have highlighted areas that I selected.
Step 6Well, now the same thing with the hand.
Step 7It is better to draw lips in a different way. Let's simply fill with a solid color, the upper and lower lip separately.
Step 8We no longer need the "Basis" layer. Remove it and get the following.
Step 9Now you can merge all the layers except the "Lips". As a result we will receive two layers. On the first layer there are all details of the robot, on the second - only lips.
Step 10Yes, the tutorial is not so difficult. Left a bit. Now paint the robot in a cool metallic color - blue. For the "RoboKid" layer apply the "Felis Faber -> Color Game" filter (Learn more...)(Download) with the parameters set forth below.
Step 11Now we will change the background. Fill the "Background" layer with #fff4a3 color.
Next, select the "Custom Shape" tool. Choose the "Registration Target 2".
Set the foreground color - #f68e13. This will be the color of the shape. To keep the center of the shape in the upper right corner, hold down the "Alt" button. Place the shape as shown in the image below.
Step 12Now, using the technique described above, we will add a pink hummingbird.
I'll show you the areas that I selected.
Step 13Almost done. But something is missing. The robot does not have eyes. Duplicate the layer with the hummingbirds.
Resize the new layer as it shown in the image below.
Create a new layer below the "RoboKid" layer. Name it "Eye". Draw a rectangle as it shown in the image below. Color of the rectangle - #93ddff
Step 14Next, using the "Warp" tool, transform the hummingbird robot that it looks like a reflection in the "RobotKid" eye.
Step 15Place the "Hummingbird copy" layer below the "RoboKid" layer. Add a simple "reflections" on the eye, using the "Brush" tool.
Step 16Set up the "Hummingbird copy" layer opacity about 40%. Now let's add a few bolts on the "RobotKid" layer. I used the following shape.
I will add the bolts only to large parts of the robot.
Now, for the sake of completeness, we add a label of a fictional corporation and its slogan in Japanese. Done. Result.
